I believe that this article would definitely be considered "soft news" because it is not relevant to anyone, besides giving basic facts that may only interest someone who is looking for beauty products. "Soft news" is more personal information that does not relate to major issues.


"Spain Just Announced It Is Taking Control Over Catalonia"

I believe that this article would definitely be considered "hard news" because it is important to the world and has a great effect on the people. "Hard news" is serious news that interests/effects the world. (World issues.)


"Father Finds Long-Lost Twin Sons In Edmonton"

I believe that this article could be considered "hard news" but it could also be considered "soft news." This article pertains to more personal information, but it has a great effect. I would categorize this article as "soft news" because it really only effects the life of the father.

I gave this news article this score because this event happened on Sunday and the article was posted on Monday, October 16, 2017, two days after the event occurred. I believe they should have had it posted on Saturday night and/or Sunday morning, but maybe they do not publish on the weekends. Significance - 2.5/4. I believe this article only affects citizens who leave in the area that was affected by party goers and the board of Dalhousie University. Therefore, I do not believe it has a great significance. Journal Entry #6 - Caught in Lies

"It Is Not All For The Show, Say no.... To The Fabricated News!" Yes, I believe that the news I hear/read/watch may be factually incorrect or fabricated because news reporters tend to inflate an occurring situation to make it more interesting. I thought the news articles were surprising, but after reading them and taking the time to understand things, it does not shock me to find out that professional journalists have fabricated news. I do agree with Shafer's assertion because liars do tend to make things up and convince themselves that what they are telling others is true news and that it is what they heard, but really it is what they have produced themselves. I strongly believe that colleagues and universities should make sure graduating journalism students can handle the responsibilities and pressures because clearly, they will need to use those skills in the real world.
