I believe that this article would definitely be considered "soft news" because it is not relevant to anyone, besides giving basic facts that may only interest someone who is looking for beauty products. "Soft news" is more personal information that does not relate to major issues.

I believe that this article would definitely be considered "hard news" because it is important to the world and has a great effect on the people. "Hard news" is serious news that interests/effects the world. (World issues.)


"Father Finds Long-Lost Twin Sons In Edmonton"

I believe that this article could be considered "hard news" but it could also be considered "soft news." This article pertains to more personal information, but it has a great effect. I would categorize this article as "soft news" because it really only effects the life of the father.

"It Is Not All For The Show, Say no.... To The Fabricated News!" Yes, I believe that the news I hear/read/watch may be factually incorrect or fabricated because news reporters tend to inflate an occurring situation to make it more interesting. I thought the news articles were surprising, but after reading them and taking the time to understand things, it does not shock me to find out that professional journalists have fabricated news. I do agree with Shafer's assertion because liars do tend to make things up and convince themselves that what they are telling others is true news and that it is what they heard, but really it is what they have produced themselves. Facing Fake News

When first looking at the photo I believed that there was a large nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power plant in Japan as said in the post of the photo. Without going forward with my research there is not enough evident information to confirm whether this news is factual. I then began researching if a nuclear disaster occurred on March 11 in Japan. I put the information given from the photo into Snopes.com and found out that it is in fact false information provided with a real photo. After reading and watching several videos that relate to the different topics I have found many things that interest me which I will discuss. First, fake news is something that is very common in not only today's society, but in previous years too. "Yellow Journalism" became known in the late 1800's when two newspaper journalists became in competition with the "yellow kids" after one copied the other. Journal Entry #1: "First Newspapers" The delivery of information:  Compared to today, some of the obvious differences between historical newspapers and today's newspapers is historical newspapers did not have any photos. Newspapers today have many photos that relate to the main event. Another difference is today's newspapers include sports news, main events and obituaries. Newspapers back then did not include as much information about a variety of different things. Newspapers todsy are also alot more expensive than they were in historical times. Reading news online you are able to watch a video clip to see live footage of the main events; long ago you were not able to do so. You were also not able to view others opinions of a topic, while now, people are able to post a comment/reaction of their thoughts on the event.
